Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Plan and prepare for stockpile management
   • Access, interpret and apply stockpiling operations documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
   • Access and share with team members the geological and survey data required to complete the site stockpile management task
   • Prepare an action plan, in consultation with team members, which makes best use of the available resource and takes into account the requirements of the site stockpile management plan
   • Acquire and make available the necessary resources for the safe, effective and efficient conduct of site stockpile management task
   • Identify hazards associated with the stockpile management operation, evaluate risks and apply controls
   • Issue clear and timely instructions to team members and others involved for the safe, effective and efficient conduct in the site stockpile management tasks
   • Identify individual training needs and develop training plans
2. Apply and monitor stockpile management plan
   • Ensure safe, effective and efficient execution of tasks
   • Monitor site stockpile management plan performance, and ensure achievement of planned outcomes
   • Initiate adjustments to work programs to take into account non-achievement of planned outcomes
   • Assess the impacts of equipment and systems on work processes and record and report on outcomes
   • Apply and monitor procedures for reviewing and modifying work processes
   • Participate in systems audit and review requirements
   • Apply training plans and monitor outcomes
3. Report on stockpile management plan
   • Complete and submit reports as required
   • Submit reasoned recommendations to improve the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of the systems

Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

works effectively with others to undertake and effective application and monitoring of the site stockpile management plan to meet all required outcomes including:

preparing for and organising work activities to meet all task requirements

communicating clearly and concisely with others to issue and clarify work instructions

using a range of communication techniques and aids to advise others of work activity and exclusion zones

demonstrates completion of application and monitoring of the site stockpile management plan that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

accessing, interpreting and communicating geological and survey data

developing an action plan in consultation with team members

monitoring stockpile management plan and make adjustments to work activity to meet outcomes

conducting system audit and make recommendations for improvement

processing written records and reports

Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of applying and monitor the site stockpile management plan through:

research, analyse and apply stockpile management plans

writing reports to communicate procedural activity, breach or inadequacies to procedure and review process of stockpile management plan

experience with the systems of stockpile management

basic mechanical, electrical and pressurised fluid safety

audit inspection, communication and reporting methodologies

mine/site historical information

plant and equipment capabilities and application

plant, equipment and tools maintenance requirements and procedures
